RUSS 15: russian for literature and culture

The program «Russian for Literature and Culture»integrates the study of Russian language, literature and culture. It does not only prepare lecturers of Russian as a foreign language, but also and foremost multi-skilled experts who have a good command of Russian, who are familiar with Russian literature and culture, who are able to work in joint ventures, and also in their country’s educational, scientific and cultural organizations interacting with Russia. This program offers intensive Russian language study combined with elective English-taught courses in the field of Russian Studies and exciting cultural activities.

PROGRAM RUSS 15 OVERVIEW

The program aims at preparing international students for solving complex problems requiring the utilization of philological knowledge and skills in various areas of intercultural communication as well as in other fields of social and human activity, where knowledge of Russian as a foreign language is necessary. Additionally, one of the objectives of the program is to improve practical Russian proficiency up to TRKI 3 (test of Russian as a foreign Language, C1)

• Modern Russian language: grammar, lexicology and syntax
• National traditions in world literature
• The history of Russian literature (11^th – 20^th centuries)
• The Russian literature and artistic culture (18^th — 20^th centuries)

ELECTIVE COURSES OF THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM RUSS 15:

• Cultural linguistics and intercultural communication
• History and the current state of literature of a certain country united by a common language
• Precedent texts of Russian literature
• Workshop on the culture of verbal communication
• Workshop on the stylistic analysis of a literary text
